This article is going to present some ideas for how to make money online that you may not have considered. Most of the strategies outlined require no formal training or startup costs. The time commitment to get everything set up is minimal. And yes, everything can be done from home.

When it comes to different ways to make money online, there is nothing new under the sun. The internet of today is only modestly different than the internet, say, of the 90s when I first started my journey as an entrepreneur. The major differences today are speed and accessibility.

If you have already taken my free entrepreneurship course, some of this info will be a repeat of modules 2 and 3, but with additional examples and a bit more of an explanation of how to make money online. If you have not taken my free course, go here to check it out. In the course, I mentioned that there was a way you could make money online, and with little to no startup costs. The only thing you need in order to get this type of business off the ground is about one hour of your time. I also pointed out that you don’t even have to be skilled in any particular trade, and I’m even going to show you how you can make money without doing any of the work that your customers are going to pay you for. I know… so far, this probably sounds like the start of a really bad get-rich-quick infomercial.

Here is a website called Fiverr. The site aggregates a bunch of freelance services that can be done via computer. What type of freelance services are offered? You will find video editing, proofreading, graphic design, website design, marketing, Powerpoint presentations, ebook writing, music production, and more. If you can do it on a computer, there is probably a gig for it.

The website, Upwork, is a platform where you can find professional talent. It is similar to Fiverr, but I would say Upwork is better for professional services like bookkeeping, website development, business consulting, taxes, legal… you name it. Also, the talent pool from an experience standpoint is far superior on Upwork. For many of the services, there is usually a minimum educational and credentialing standard in order to do some of the work.

So how can you make money with websites like this? At first glance, it would appear there is only one way to make money. You would have to be a specialist or maybe even a professional, right? There are actually 3 ways to make money with websites like this:

1. Offer Your Own Services

If you are already skilled in a particular trade, why not list your services? It's an easy way to make passive income. If you check out Fiverr, for example, you will see that there are plenty of services that just about any tech savvy person can do from home.

2. Facilitator or Broker

You can be a facilitator or a middleman. Simply create an account and list your service or "gig" [as Fiverr calls it]. But instead of doing the work yourself, you are going to outsource everything to another freelancer. So you will charge the customer $60, then contract out the job to another freelancer, who will only charge $10. In this example, your profit would be $50.

3. Affiliate Program Revenue

The third way to make money is to become an affiliate and refer customers to freelancer websites. Many of them will have some type of commission structure where you are compensated for referrals. Both Fiverr and Upwork have genererous affiliate programs.

This article covered various ways to make money online with no formal skill or training requirements. Another advantage of a business like this is it can be faceless, meaning nobody has to ever see who you are. You can have a logo, an icon, maybe an avatar as the face of the business and still make serious money.

You might be wondering how to get your first customers. The easiest way is to start with the people you know: like family and friends. Once that initial wave of positive reviews begins to roll in, it should be a lot easier to make money in a more residual or passive manner.
