PODCAST EPISODE TITLE: How to Indentify Greatness
HOST: JUSTIN LEONARD

What is your greatest accomplishment? This question can be used to determine where someone is on the success scale. If you can’t answer the question, does it mean you’re a loser? No. But it may be a sign that you’re not as great as you think you are. Today, I am going to show you how to easily spot a winner. As your life script is being written, you want to think very seriously about ANY level of significance you have achieved. If you don’t yet have that spark of greatness, you’re in luck because there is still time to get on a path to excellence. I’ll explain. You are now tuned in to Leonard Innovation where the focus is on entrepreneurs who don’t come from wealth, but have the potential to be great. My name is Justin Leonard. An interesting fact: No mammal has bright orange milk. So, why are some cheeses orange? The natural coloring properties of annatto, which comes from the achiote tree, is added to milk during the manufacturing process in order to differentiate various cheeses, like cheddar, from normally white cheeses like mozzarella… Again, I want to ask… What is your greatest accomplishment? Now, winners can quickly come up with an answer to this question. They may take a second or two if they have a lot of achievements. But if you find yourself taking a while to come up with an answer to this simple question, What is your greatest accomplishment, consider using it as a queue to start doing things with purpose. It should also be noted that there are varying levels of accomplishment. It is highly individualized and can only be defined by you. Recently, I talked about why everything you do has to count for something. The presentation was technically for business owners. But really, the message could be applied to non-entrepreneurial scenarios as well. Let me give you a quick story. In 2018, my business crossed the 20-year mark. So, 20 plus years as a successful entrepreneur. At the time, it didn’t seem that I had been in business that long. But, when I thought back to where I started in a military dorm room in 1998, I realized that in that span of time, this powerful machine I created, had sold retail products to a number of high-profile organizations. From Amazon to Blue Cross Blue Shield. From Nike to Pepsico. From Circ du Soleil to all branches of the United States military. Virtually everyone has been a customer over the years. And I believe having that expansive customer base kinda set me apart from other successful businesses, where they tend to sell within specific industries. In my case, I was able to sell across multiple industries. When I started, I never imagined this level of business success. So, for me, my greatest accomplishment was what I built. But career defining moments are important because… you don’t ever want to look back and have regrets about what could have been. So again, what is your greatest accomplishment? You should be able to quickly answer this question. Winners can do it. But if you struggle to come up with an answer, it’s time to step it up and go out and do something great. Try to do things with purpose; with intention. Because you can always rewrite your life script.
